ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Mary Kaye Eason.

PROVEN PUBLIC SERVICE

I was born and raised in Southwest Louisiana – and I've spent my life striving to make it a great place to live and work. A graduate of Sam Houston High School and McNeese State University, my 30-year career at McNeese includes roles in both academics and administration. I'm a dedicated public servant with experience in organizations like the Go Group (where I chaired a committee on quality of life issues in Calcasieu Parish); the Lake Charles Regional Airport Authority (where I'm the longest-serving member of the current board); the Republican Women of Southwest Louisiana (where I serve as a board member and scholarship chair); St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church; and many other worthy organizations. In addition to volunteerism, I have experience as an elected official, having previously served interim appointments on both the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and the Calcasieu Parish School Board.

Outside of work and community service, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 37 years – Mike, my two daughters – Kelli Brignac (Blake) and Kristen, and my four granddaughters.

The experience and drive to serve you well.

PUBLIC SERVICE

Lake Charles Regional Airport Authority

Board Member/President – 2007-present

In this role, I work with other board members and the airport's executive director to provide oversight for airport operations and administration as a critical cornerstone of the transportation infrastructure in Southwest Louisiana.

Southwest Louisiana Go Group

Chairperson, Task Force for Public Service Improvements – 2015-2018

The Southwest Louisiana Go Group was formed as a collaborative effort between governmental bodies in our area to anticipate and facilitate needed changes to accommodate the expected rapid population growth associated with more than $80 billion in industrial development. We were tasked with bringing public services up to date to accomplish greater efficiency and deliver higher-quality services to SWLA residents during the largest industrial expansion in the history of our nation. This task force focused heavily on issues associated with quality of life in our region, such as drainage, and it gave me valuable experience with and insight into the public services residents and businesses deserve.

Calcasieu Parish School Board

Board Member – 2006

In 2006, I served an interim appointment for a school board member who resigned his position.

Calcasieu Parish Police Jury

Board Member – 2005

In 2005 – also embedded in the memories of many SWLA residents as the year of Hurricane Rita – I served an interim appointment to complete an unfilled term for a police juror who was elected to state government. Perhaps the most valuable of my public service experiences with regard to my current campaign, this interim appointment allowed me insight into the inner workings of the police jury, which will significantly reduce any learning curve as I seek a full term.
