You've got questions, I've got answers.

Have a question not addressed here? Just ask!

Q: Why are you running for police jury? A: I love Southwest Louisiana, and I’m dedicated to making it a great place to live for everyone – and I feel like the police jury is an opportunity to do that. My real turning point with this decision was after Hurricane Laura. Like a lot of people, I just wanted everything to be OK again. A trusted friend suggested I consider running for police jury. Having served in an interim appointment before, I know about the opportunity the police jury has to really improve quality of life in Calcasieu Parish. From the big parish-wide issues like drainage or mosquito control to the small things that have a big impact on me personally – like maintenance at Prien Lake Park – I feel like I can really make a difference.

Q: Why now? Shouldn't you be enjoying retirement and not committing to new things? A: That's exactly why I'm running! During my interim CPPJ appointment, my kids still lived at home and I worked full-time. But now I can dedicate the time this position deserves. Being your police jury representative will BE my job.

Q: Tell me what you'd do differently on the police jury. A: One of the most important things I'd like to do is communicate more consistently with my constituents. The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury does a lot of things for our parish, but a lot of people don’t know about them. For example, did you know they oversee mosquito control for all of Calcasieu? It’s not a service duplicated by the cities in the parish. But in addition to helping my constituents access resources, I want you to be involved in any change. Many people aren’t even aware of when police jury meetings occur. Whether or not you can attend, I want to share the agenda and give you a chance to send me your feedback. I want District 8 to have a voice – but not just mine!

Q: Why should I vote for you? A: Of course there are plenty of good reasons! Most importantly, I've always given 150% to everything I commit to. And I'll do that on the police jury, too. This isn't just a side gig for me. Some other things I am proud of are my deep community involvement, including volunteerism with quality of life projects in our parish through the Go Group, my 30-year career at McNeese, and my service on the Lake Charles Regional Airport Authority. You can see a full breakdown of my public service, volunteerism and work experience on my "About" page.

Q: What's your most important issue? A: Infrastructure. Our area of Calcasieu Parish is growing quickly, and we're an asset to the parish economy. But our infrastructure, including roads and drainage, needs to catch up. One good example of a project in the works that addresses our infrastructure needs is the Ham Reid extension. I think that extension between Elliot and Big Lake roads will be valuable to residents throughout District 8 with regard to easing congestion along Country Club Road.
